About FreeLoader

FreeLoader was a creator of an offline World Wide Web delivery service. Notably, it was founded by Mark Pincus, the founder of Zynga. FreeLoader was one of Pincus' initial forays into startups. Notably, the company was acquired only 7 months after being founded. Pincus founded FreeLoader along with Sunil Paul. On June 2, 1996, Individual, Inc., (formerly NASDAQ: INDV) a provider of customized news services, announced that it had acquired FreeLoader, Inc. Per Individual, the acquisition was to provide end users with two of the most exciting developments to emerge from the Internet in recent months: personalized "intelligent-agent driven" news retrieval and offline Web delivery. The purchase price was approximately $38 million which included 1.8 million shares of Individual common stock for all the outstanding stock of FreeLoader and $2 million in cash. Included in the 1.8 million shares are 281,000 shares reserved for exercise of Freeloader stock options assumed by Individual.
