El año pasado, los huéspedes en Airbnb viajaron a más de 14,000 nuevos destinos fuera de los Estados Unidos, incluyendo ciudades y pueblos [1] , lo que convirtió a este año en uno de turismo muy disperso en la plataforma comparado con 2020. En América Latina, la cantidad de lugares que recibieron su primera reservación en 2024 supera los 200 destinos [2] . Perú experimentó un crecimiento significativo en materia turística en 2024, con tres nuevos destinos que recibieron con éxito a sus primeros huéspedes [3] . Esta expansión destaca una mayor dispersión del turismo en todo el país, yendo más allá de los destinos tradicionales y ofreciendo a los viajeros una gama más diversa de experiencias. Los nuevos destinos incluyen [4] : Bellavista, San Martín: en la Amazonía peruana, ofrece una experiencia única de naturaleza, biodiversidad y conexión cultural con las comunidades locales. Dos de Mayo, Huánuco: en la sierra central, un destino rodeado de montañas y tradiciones que conecta a los viajeros con la vida rural y la autenticidad andina. Carlos Fermín Fitzcarrald, Áncash: un enclave en la región andina que brinda experiencias de contacto con la naturaleza y oportunidades de ecoturismo. La integración de estos destinos en el mercado turístico permite estimar un interés creciente en experiencias de viaje auténticas y fuera de lo común dentro de Perú, lo que puede ayudar a contribuir al desarrollo económico, permitiendo a más comunidades beneficiarse del crecimiento del sector. Datos internos de la plataforma Airbnb de 2024 también indican que los huéspedes que viajan a destinos no urbanos y rurales en Perú no son solo internacionales, sino también locales. Más del 50% de las reservas en 2024 en Perú se realizaron en destinos rurales [5] , y más del 55% de los viajeros fueron locales explorando dentro de su propio país [6] .
